Imtiaz group sets bar high (26.4.2017)

Yesterday's gathering involved students who have scored 280 tariff points and above based on the UCAS tariff points system, either in their Lower Sixth End of Year examination and also the recently released GCE AS-Level November 2016 examination results.


In light of their current achievements, representatives from the college's Education Development Unit (EDU) briefed students and parents on various information that will become very pivotal in coming months for their varsity application.

The Assistant Senior Master (Academic), Cg Nur Adyani bte Hj Yusop briefed on general higher education options. The Head of EDU, Cg Charles Lim talked about overseas university application and key dates. The school's specialist career teacher, Cg DK Farizah bte Pg Hj Wahab briefed on the education loan. 

It is hoped that the information relayed would benefit the Imtiaz focus group as well as their parents.

Students show outstanding IT skills to raise awareness on Glocal issues (18.4.2017)

Six groups of finalists, which comprises of Upper Sixth General Paper (GP) students had the opportunity to share with the school through their excellent thought-provoking videos in this year's iteration of the the GP ICT competition 2017.

Previous year's themes had included Superstititions, Green Brunei and Old is Gold. This year's theme is glocal issues. This year's finalists' videos touched on various global issues including poverty, racism, stereotypes, diabetes, catfish and drug abuse.


The top three videos, as judged by Faiq Airudin, a former photojournalist with the Brunei Times together with Cg Charles Lim Wei Siong (history tutor, PTET) and Abdul Azim bin Hj Morni (a former finalist from GP ICT competition 2015), were

PTET soccer team battles hard in interschool men's football finals (5.4.2017)

Congratulations to the following students who had represented the school in interschool men's football finals amongst Cluster 5 schools in Brunei on 5th April 2017.


Leading up to the finals, PTET men's won big against SM Tanjong Maya men's with scoreline of 4-0.

Unfortunately in the finals, despite battling hard, PTET men's lost against SM Muda Hashim Tutong who were the better team ultimately, with the scoreline 2-0.



The students were accompanied by Cg Muhd Shahnofazli bin Hj Sabli, Senior Master (CCA) and Cg Sea Kong Meng.

PTET bleeds for a good cause (13.4.2017)

Another blood donation drive was held recently at Multi-Purpose Hall of the school. A total of 32 pints of blood was gathered.


The RIPAS blood bank sometimes run short of valuable blood types so these continuous blood donation campaign is an excellent educational aid in increasing awareness on the importance of donating blood and to encourage existing donors to donate regularly.


Cg Teo Ying Ying, as the main organiser of the campaign, said "we had overwhelming interest from the Lower Sixth (Year 12) students at the moment but unfortunately they fell just below 17 years old. So we are planning for another to have another donation drive at the end of this year because by then they would be eligible to donate!".


A student volunteer, Nur Adlina bte Abdullah Sahbowai said, "donating blood is one of the many ways you can contribute to society, so donate and save lives."

PTET victorious in inter-school badminton competition (13.4.2017)

Some PTET students who represented the school in inter-school badminton competition were victorious in their endeavours.

PTET Teacher Professional Development (TPD) hosted Teachers Forum 2017 #2 (12.4.2017)

The Teachers Forum 2017 #2 is the seventh of the overall Teachers Forum series since its inaugural forum in November 2015.

It provides a platform for teachers to share educational best practices as well as challenges and strategies in overcoming these challenges, tried and tested methodologies that had worked well and those that worked less well, essentially small-scale classroom based investigations.

Cg Ak Azim bin Pg Hj Abas lectured on the perspectives of Art in the eyes of education, science and society. He also responded to queries from the audience regarding whether students and public in general question every component of Art they encounter, to fully appreciate its meanings and underlying concepts. 



Cg Onn Chee Sheng talked about his experience of using Wordpress blog in his teaching of Chemistry. He had used Wordpress blogsite as a digital depository for teaching and learning materials that were shared and easily accessible by his students as well as fellow colleagues within and outside the school. This promotes a culture of independent study habit by students, given all the supporting resources, to learn anytime, anywhere. 


Cg Hjh Murni presented certificates as token of appreciation to both presenters to conclude the afternoon. Podcasts of both talks are available at TDP YouTube channel and also specifically through this playlist.

Eksplorasi Kerjaya 2017 (11.4.2017)

On 11th April 2017, in collaboration with the UKK, MOE, PTET hosted various higher education representatives in a lunchtime exhibition and subsequently briefing by local varsity admission officers regarding courses and entrance criteria.

Participating exhibitors included the HRD Educational Services, Findlay Sdn Bhd, US Embassy representative (Mayra Robles), Australian Embassy representative (Josie Abdullah) and Adelaide University rep (Vivian Chow) as well as the British Council representative (Cecile).







Local university reps included Universiti Brunei Darussalam, University Teknologi Brunei, UNISSA, KUPUSB and Politeknik Brunei.

The school thanks all who were involved and hopes the students obtain valuable insights into their future education pathways.

Students make PTET proud in Round 1 of UK Chemistry Olympiad (8.4.2017)

Tutong Sixth Form Centre (PTET) claimed five silvers and ten bronzes in Round 1 of the UK Chemistry Olympiad 2017.

Twenty-five students sat for the two-hour competition organised by the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC).

PTET netball team shows team spirit in inter-school competition (6.4.2017)

The PTET ladies netball team led by teachers (Cg Siti Akmar and Cg Norehsan Diah) and one of our librarians (Lilawati Dunin) shows great team spirit and sporting ethics in their inter-school netball competition Cluster 5.

Unfortunately, they were unable to prevent an upset against all their more formidable opponents in preliminary round-robin opponents (SM Sayyidina Othman, SM Tanjong Maya and SM Sufri Bolkiah).
