Youth Science Forum Talk: Dreams and Deja Vu - Inside the Subconscious

The Youth Science Forum (YSF) 2026/2027 successfully organised its first science talk titled "Sleep and Déjà Vu - Inside the Subconscious". The speakers were Norqistina Binti Nurazmi (L6-2) and Hj Saifulzaim Hakeem Bin Hj Saifullizan (L6-1). In attendance was the deputy principal of academic cg Rozieana Hj Zini, YSF coordinator Cg Siti Rohaini Md Saleh, YSFA manager Jasmine Basyirah Binti Hj Jefri and YSFA secretary Nur Hidayah Syahzanani Binti Muhd Jaffry. 

The session explored the fascinating science behind sleep, including its importance for physical and mental well-being, the stages of sleep, and how sleep affects memory, learning, and cognitive performance. Participants were also introduced to the phenomenon of déjà vu, examining scientific theories that attempt to explain why people experience the sensation of having lived through a situation before. The talk encouraged students to appreciate the role of neuroscience in understanding everyday human experiences and to develop a greater interest in scientific inquiry.

Workshop

10 JUNE 2026. SIP NEWS.

A total of 26 students attended the workshop titled “Ocean Voices Journey and a Beginner’s Guide to Motion Graphics”, facilitated by YSF 2025/2026 writer, Nur’Aini Syahmina Zarifah binti Haji Zainol Shamri. The workshop was conducted as part of the school’s improvement plan to enhance students’ digital creativity and participation in academic enrichment activities.

During the session, participants were introduced to the Ocean Voices Video Competition and gained insights from the facilitator’s experience throughout her competition journey. Students were also provided with a beginner-friendly introduction to motion graphics, including fundamental design principles and techniques for creating engaging visual content.

The workshop aimed to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to produce impactful digital media, encourage greater participation in creative and science-related competitions, and foster confidence in using visual storytelling to communicate ideas effectively.

'Program khidmat masyarakat wajib (Sustainable Development Goals)' was conducted by UNISSA and attended by Lower Sixth students from PTE Tutong. The programme commenced at 2:30 p.m. and concluded at 4:30 p.m in the Trustworthy Lecture Room.






Majlis Apresiasi Sastera Cerita Lisan Brunei

Seramai 14 orang pelajar tingkatan enam bawah menghadiri Majlis Apresiasi Sastera Cerita Lisan Brunei Siri 4, 5 dan 6, di Universiti Brunei Darussalam. Turut hadir sebagai guru pengawas adalah ketua Jabatan Bahasa Melayu dan penolong ketua Jabatan Bahasa Melayu iaitu Cg Noralenie Binti Nordin.

Briefing on the Ocean Voices Video Competition 2026

A briefing session for the Ocean Voices Video Competition 2026 was conducted for team leaders involved in the School Improvement Plan (SIP) video production team.

The objectives of the briefing were:
• To provide an overview of the competition requirements, rules, and guidelines.
• To explain the competition theme, judging criteria, and submission procedures.
• To encourage students to harness their creativity and use video storytelling as a platform to promote ocean conservation and environmental awareness.

The session also provided an opportunity for participants to seek clarification and prepare effectively for the competition.

A CV Writing and Interview Skills session was conducted by Mr William Martin of Findlay Sdn Bhd to equip students with essential skills needed for scholarship applications, higher education opportunities and future careers. Students gained valuable guidance on creating professional CVs, presenting themselves confidently during interviews and developing effective communication skills.

VIDEO PRODUCTION BRIEFING FOR TERM 3 (FOR SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT PLAN 2026)

21 APRIL 2026. SIP NEWS.

A total of 26 Lower Six students attended a video editing briefing facilitated by Senior Mistress of Academic, Siti Rohaini Md Saleh. The briefing aimed to explain the Term 3 STEAM video project requirements and provide guidance on the content, structure, and expectations of the videos. The initiative is part of the school improvement plan. It also supports Goal No. 1 of Brunei Vision 2035, which focuses on developing well-educated and highly skilled people.
